Patna: The body of a 25-year-old youth, who had been missing since March 4, was found near a pond in the Silao police station area of Nalanda district on Saturday morning. His family alleged that he was murdered over an illicit relationship with a girl. The deceased was identified as Mannu Kumar alias Mani, a resident of Panki village.According to family members, Mannu had been in a relationship with a girl from the same village, who was also his cousin. The girl’s family reportedly disapproved of the relationship, leading to frequent tensions. The family suspects this led to his murder.Mannu’s brother, Sunny Kumar, accused several villagers of being involved in the killing. He claimed that Mannu was found with his cousin on a rooftop on the evening of March 4, after which a dispute erupted between the families.Police had visited Panki village the same evening following a report of a domestic dispute and had counselled the family before leaving. However, the incident allegedly occurred soon after their departure.Upon being informed about the discovery of the body, Rajgir DSP Sunil Kumar Singh reached the spot with a police team and sent the body to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. “Prima facie, the case appears to be related to an illicit relationship. Police have launched a thorough investigation and are conducting raids to apprehend the accused. An FSL team has also visited the spot and collected evidence,” he said.
