Kanpur: A speeding sports bike hit a 24-year-old man crossing the Kanpur-Etawah highway in Gujaini on Saturday morning, killing the pedestrian and leaving the rider seriously injured.The accident occurred around 7.40 am near Lohe Wala Pul under the Gujaini police station limits.According to police, Dharmendra Kumar (24), a resident of Gujaini village, was crossing the highway when Vijay Lal (30), a resident of Tirwaganj in Kannauj, was riding a sports bike along the stretch. The speeding motorcycle rammed into Dharmendra with great force.The impact threw both men onto the road and dragged them for some distance, leaving them critically injured.On receiving information, a police team from Gujaini police station reached the spot and rushed both injured men to a hospital. Dharmendra succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while Vijay Lal remains under medical care.Police said a case will be registered after receiving a complaint from the deceased’s family, and further legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
