Kanpur: Thirteen people, including 11 schoolchildren, a woman teacher and the bus conductor, were injured after a private school bus carrying students from Orai to Jalaun lost control and plunged into a deep roadside ditch on Friday afternoon. The bus crashed into a tree near Akodhi Dube on the Jalaun–Orai route, preventing what officials said could have been a far more serious tragedy.The accident occurred around 2:30 pm, when the bus was returning the students home after school hours.According to officials, the speeding bus went out of control near Akodhi Dube, veered off the road and plunged into the ditch before crashing head-on into a large tree, severely damaging its front portion. The impact triggered panic among the children on board.At the time of the accident, the bus was carrying 16 children, a woman teacher, the driver and the conductor. The tree brought the vehicle to a halt, preventing it from overturning further into the ditch.Passers-by and local villagers rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. After being alerted, UP-112 police and ambulance teams reached the site. The injured children were pulled out through the bus windows and doors and rushed to Government Medical College, Orai, for treatment.DM Rajesh Kumar Pandey and SP Vinay Kumar Singh visited Govt Medical College, Orai, where they met the injured children and directed doctors to ensure prompt treatment without any negligence.
