Kanpur: The supply of domestic LPG gas in the district continues continuing normally, however, panic booking in the district continue resultig in a backlog. District supply officer Rakesh Kumar Singh said that a significant increase in gas cylinder bookings was recorded between March 11 to 15 as compared to the previous year. Due to a large number of consumers booking simultaneously, the booking figures appear higher, whereas the supply of cylinders remains the same as last year. Bookings surged from 1.76 lakh to 4.90 lakh in five days due to panicSingh said that between March 11 to 15, 2025, a total of 1,76,722 gas cylinders were booked in the district, whereas during the same period in 2026, this number increased to 4,90,658. This means bookings nearly tripled in 5 days. During this period, 1,01,628 bookings were recorded on 14 March and 1,02,526 on 15 March, which is significantly higher compared to normal days. However, cylinders are being supplied regularly amd the administration is continuously monitoring gas agencies and supply. District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh appealed to the people to not to pay attention to rumours and avoid unnecessary panic booking. He said that an adequate supply of gas cylinders is available in the district and all consumers are being provided with cylinders as per regulations. Meanwhile, the control room established at the district supply office received 57 complaints via landline and 18 via WhatsApp on March 16 2026, thus a total of 75 complaints were registered. Of these, 33 complaints were resolved by providing cylinders, while action on the remaining complaints is ongoing, said Singh.
