Times News NetworkKanpur: Railway police apprehended nine men accused of impersonating eunuchs and soliciting money from travellers at Kanpur Central Railway Station, following reports of misconduct and abusive behaviour towards those who declined to pay. A joint effort by the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force led to the capture of the suspects in the act, both inside trains and on the platforms at Kanpur Central. GRP inspector Om Narain Singh said that on Sunday, the railway control room alerted them to the presence of a group of fraudulent eunuchs operating on platform no.10 of Kanpur Central who was forcefully demanding from passengers arriving at and departing from the station.The situation escalated when some passengers refused to pay, prompting the accused to allegedly resort to verbal abuse, make lewd gestures, and engage in heated disputes with the travellers.Later, the GRP and RPF team conducted a raid and detained nine persons impersonating as eunuchs but were in fact men from various districts in Uttar Pradesh disguising themselves as fake eunuchs to intimidate passengers and extort significant money. They were formally arrested under BNSS Section 170/126/135.
