Syndrela Das wins twin title and over all prize money of Rs 1,24,100

Kanpur: It was a double delight for Commonwealth champion Syndrela Das of West Bengal, who clinched both the U-19 and women’s singles titles at the National Ranking Table Tennis Championship at The Sports Hub (TSH) on Sunday.In the women’s singles final, Syndrela defeated Maharashtra’s Divyanshi Bhaumik in a keenly contested six-game encounter, winning 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7, 11-9. Both players matched each other for much of the final, but Syndrela’s superior stamina helped her gain the decisive advantage in the closing stages. The scores in the last two games reflected her physical strength and ability to maintain her composure under pressure.Earlier, Syndrela outplayed Tamil Nadu’s Ananya 11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 to win the Youth Girls’ U-19 title.Meanwhile, Delhi’s Payas Jain won the men’s singles crown, defeating PSPB’s Manav Thakkar 11-3, 9-11, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8.In the Youth Boys’ U-19 final, RSPB’s Priyanuj Bhattacharya clinched the title by defeating Tamil Nadu’s PB Abhinand 4-3. In a thrilling seven-game encounter, Priyanuj secured victory with scores of 9-11, 11-5, 11-3, 8-11, 21-23, 11-4, 11-7. The hard-fought fifth game, which ended 21-23, was the most exciting phase of the match.Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation president Dushyant Chautala, chairman Vivek Kohli and secretary MP Singh gave away the trophies to the winners.
