Kanpur: A 50-year-old man died while two others suffered burns after coming in contact with a hanging high-tension wire in the Gangadarwaza locality of Farrukhabad early Saturday.According to police, the wire snapped during overnight rain. At dawn, a man, Avadhesh, was going on a bicycle to take a dip in the Ganga when his umbrella touched the wire and he died of electrocution.Later, two other men, Shivam and Surjeet, also came in contact with the wire and suffered burns. They were admitted to Lohia Hospital for treatment.Vidyut Nigam superintending engineer Yadavendra Singh said power supply was disconnected after the wire snapped the previous night. However, someone allegedly got the supply restored, following which the incident occurred. The matter is being investigated, he said.Locals expressed anger over the negligence of the electricity department and demanded strict action against those responsible.
