Surat: A 28-year-old man and his mother were injured after their scooter plunged into a 20-foot pit dug for the metro project in the Parvat Patiya area on Saturday.“Saurabh Jain and his mother Rupali (48), were riding a scooter from Kabootar Circle when he lost control and fell into the put, with the two-wheeler. Both suffered injuries and are out of danger. They were rescued using an excavator and are being treated,” said Haresh Patel, senior deputy general manager, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRCL).“The site was properly barricaded. The man driving the scooter lost control and hit the barricade after which they fell in. Both suffered minor injuries and out of danger,” added PatelVideos of the incident soon went viral on social media, showing the victims being lifted out of the pit using the excavator.Narendra Lohiya, executive director of GMRC in Surat, said work on shifting a utility line was underway at the site.
