Jhansi: The Uttar Pradesh government has drawn up an ambitious roadmap to strengthen heritage, religious and eco-tourism in the Bundelkhand region, with minister for tourism and culture Jaiveer Singh reviewing proposed and ongoing projects worth over Rs 15 crore in Jhansi division on Saturday.The review meeting focused on 13 proposed tourism projects for the 2026-27 financial year, including eight in Jhansi, three in Jalaun and two in Lalitpur. The projects aim to improve tourist amenities, conserve historical and religious sites, and enhance Bundelkhand’s appeal as a heritage tourism destination.During the meeting, the minister directed officials to complete all under-construction projects costing up to Rs 1 crore by November 2026. He also instructed the implementing agencies to coordinate closely with public representatives, ensuring that foundation stone-laying ceremonies and inaugurations are carried out with their participation.A major highlight was the proposal to develop the 17th-century Raja Champat Rai Mahal as a heritage tourism destination under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Plans for the conservation, restoration and beautification of the Maratha-era Raghunath Mahal were also reviewed.Similarly, in Lalitpur and Jalaun districts also, proposals for the development of a number of ancient temple complexes projects were also discussed.The culture department also reviewed the modernisation of the Government Museum in Jhansi and progress on the Shaheed Shyam Singh Sengar Memorial in Jalaun.
