Ahmedabad: The admission process for super-speciality seats in medical colleges has hit an unexpected pause. After completion of the first round of allotments, authorities have abruptly postponed the second round, citing an increase in the number of available seats.According to the earlier All India admission committee schedule, the first round ended on March 18. Candidates were instructed to fill their choices for the second round between March 29 and April 4, with seat allotment scheduled for April 5 and 6. The results were to be declared on April 7, followed by fee payment and admission confirmation from April 8 to 16.On Friday, central admission authority said new seats are likely to be approved. As a result, candidates have been asked to unlock and refill their choices. The issue involves around 120 seats in Gujarat and over 8,000 nationwide. This change has led to confusion among students. Experts argue that all seat approvals and availability should be finalized before admissions begin. Introducing additional seats after one round disrupts the system and delays admissions, they said. tnn
