T’puram: A middle-aged man’s decomposed body was found inside a locked house in Attingal on Tuesday. The incident came to light after residents noticed a strong, foul smell emanating from the house and alerted police.The deceased was later identified as 52-year-old Shaji. Attingal police broke open the locked house and discovered the body hanging from a ceiling fan inside one of the rooms. Police sources said the body appeared to be several days old. Shaji reportedly had been living in Delhi for over a decade after being separated from his family. Locals said he used to visit Attingal occasionally. There are also indications that he had recently put the house up for sale. Following inquest procedures, the body was shifted to Paripally medical college hospital for autopsy. Forensic teams conducted a detailed inspection at the scene to gather evidence. Police said efforts are under way to contact Shaji’s relatives. A case has been registered under the provisions of unnatural death, and further investigation is in progress.
