Vadodara: A domestic dispute took a murderous turn in Vadodara early on Monday when a 40-year-old man allegedly slit his wife’s throat before hanging himself inside their home. The couple’s two children raised the alarm and helped rush their bleeding mother to hospital, where she is being treated.Pradip Gangude allegedly attacked his wife, Jyoti, 37, with a cutter at their house on Waghodia Road, before dying by suicide. Jyoti suffered serious throat injuries and was admitted to hospital.According to police, around 2.30am Pradip got into an argument with his wife, suspecting her of infidelity.Investigators said Pradip picked up a cutter lying in the bedroom and attacked Jyoti, causing severe bleeding. Her cries for help woke the couple’s two children, who intervened and tried to stop the assault.Police said Pradip then left the first-floor bedroom, locked it from the outside and went downstairs.Unable to get out of the locked room, the children jumped onto a neighbour’s balcony and reached the ground floor. They called an ambulance and then tried to enter their house.When Pradip did not respond, his son, Yash, broke a windowpane to look inside. He found his father hanged from the ceiling hook in the hall.Kapurai police registered a case of attempted murder against the deceased and launched an investigation.“Pradip left a suicide note behind in which he has mentioned his problems with his wife. We are investigating the factors behind the incident,” said D C Raol, police inspector of Kapurai police station.Police said Pradip and Jyoti had been married for about 15 years and both worked for a private company in the city. Further investigation is under way.
