Kendrapada: A 35-year-old man was on Wednesday sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment for killing his neighbour in 2019.The district and sessions judge of Kendrapada also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him and failure to pay would result in his sentence being increased by a year.The convict was identified as Sumant Sekhar Nayak, a resident of Badapala village under Marsaghai police station limits. On June 5, 2019, Sumant killed his neighbour, Kunja Bihari Nayak (54), over a land dispute.The court acquitted Suryamani Nayak, the convict’s father, in the murder case due to lack of evidence.
