Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man was arrested by Chaitanyapuri police for allegedly cheating a woman by posing as a central govt employee and attempting to marry her. The accused, P Madhu, befriended the victim by claiming he was working as a technical manager with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and proposed marriage. Trusting his claims, the woman’s family reportedly paid 1.5 crore as dowry and even conducted an engagement ceremony.At his insistence, a pre-wedding shoot was also arranged, during which he allegedly misbehaved with the woman and made accusations against her, raising suspicion. The victim’s family later verified his credentials and discovered that he was not a govt employee. Following a complaint, police registered a case and arrested him. Officials seized a fake FCI ID card and a car bearing a ‘govt duty’ sticker from his possession. He was later remanded to judicial custody.tnn
