Hyderabad: Union minister of state (Home) Bandi Sanjay has said chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s proposals on delimitation are “unconstitutional and detrimental to the interests of marginalised communities”.In a statement issued here on Monday, Bandi Sanjay opposed Revanth Reddy’s argument that more seats should be allocated to regions generating highest revenue. “If that is true, should all seats be given to Hyderabad? Isn’t there a need to increase seats for districts like Palamuru, where you were born, and the backward Adilabad?” He mocked whether the Congress high command was now formulating principles based on financial considerations after sending numerous petitions. Alleging that Congress was trying to dismantle the constitutional foundations laid by Babasaheb Ambedkar, he said Revanth’s comments were contrary to the ideals of one of the architect of the Constitution and that he would have ostracised the Congress from the country if he were alive. He stated that “BJP’s vision is to ensure that the benefits of development reach everyone, regardless of financial status”. He clarified that the credit for deciding to increase seats by 50% in every state, irrespective of population, goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Bandi Sanjay accused Congress of being consistently against women’s reservations, questioning why they didn’t provide 33% reservations during their five decades of rule. He recalled that Congress was currently aligning with parties like RJD and Samajwadi Party, which previously tore up copies of the bill in Parliament. Bandi Sanjay said Revanth Reddy’s comments exposed the true nature of Congress and urged them to stop engaging in divisive politics and speak the truth.
