Vadodara: The crime branch has arrested a Madhya Pradesh resident accused of duping dozens of people by promising to double their investments within six months. The accused, Praful Bargal, had been on the run for nearly three years after an FIR was registered against him at Harni police station.According to police, they received a tip-off that Bargal was hiding in a village near Indore, following which they tracked him down and arrested him.Police said Bargal launched a company in 2017 and lured people into investing their money with the promise of doubling their investments within six months. He also assured investors that they would receive Rs 800 daily directly into their bank accounts.Bargal allegedly launched multiple investment schemes to attract more people and collect money from them. During a meeting with investors in Surat, he also offered overseas holiday packages in exchange for their investments.After collecting more than Rs 70 lakh from investors, Bargal fled, leaving the investors in the lurch.Police are now investigating whether he defrauded more people in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
