Kanpur: A man was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod, bricks, belts and sticks at a hotel on Mall Road in Kanpur on Thursday morning after he objected to abusive language, police said.Rahul Gupta, a resident of Kachhiyana Mohal, accused hotel employee Raunak Patel and several associates of attacking him in Pheelkhana police station area. Gupta alleged that he was called inside the hotel, where Patel hit him with an iron rod.He alleged that others grabbed him from behind, threw him to the ground and repeatedly hit his head with a brick before striking his back and body with rods, belts and sticks.Gupta said women and others reached the spot after hearing the noise. He alleged that one woman strangled him, while another woman arrived with a dupatta and said he should be finished off.In his complaint, Gupta alleged that police were called after about two hours. He was later threatened with being implicated in false theft and rape cases if he pursued action, he said.Gupta said photographs of his injuries had been preserved. Pheelkhana police said the matter was under investigation.
