Hisar: A 58-year-old woman was killed after lightning struck her house during heavy rain in Khajuri Jati village of Fatehabad district late Wednesday night, causing part of the roof to collapse. The woman, Nanhi Devi, was trapped under the debris while sleeping in her room. According to the family, the lightning struck the room directly, causing a loud explosion and bringing down nearly half of the roof. Other family members were sleeping in another room at the time and rushed to the spot after hearing the sound.The family and villagers opened the room about 15 minutes later and found Nanhi Devi’s cot trapped under the debris. They pulled her out and rushed her to a private hospital in Fatehabad, where doctors declared her dead. Police were informed about the incident and the body was taken to the civil hospital for postmortem examination. Further action is being taken, police said.Nanhi Devi’s son Ranjit said the incident occurred around 3 am. She is survived by two married sons.
