Jamshedpur: Candidates stepped up their public contact programmes across all the six poll-bound urban local bodies across East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan district as curtains came down on election campaign on Saturday evening.Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC), Jugsalai Municipal Council (JMC), and Chakulia Nagar Panchayat (CNP) in East Singhbhum district and Adityapur Municipal Corporation (AMC), Seraikela Nagar Panchayat (SNP), and Kapali Nagar Parishad (KNP) in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district will go to vote on Feb 23.

Mayor aspirants for Mango, including Congress-backed Sudha Gupta and BJP-backed Sandhya Singh, walked miles on foot and crisscrossed localities on vehicles to reach out the voters in the last few hours.Rinku Singh, chairperson candidate for JMC, said, “Jugsalai residents want redevelopment of the municipal area, and they are expecting a lot from us. The enthusiasm of the crowd in my interactions with the public is evidence of their wish.”BJP fielded its senior leaders, including Union ministers Giriraj Singh and Sanjay Seth, to address rallies and reach out to the electorate in Jugsalai and Mango on Friday. Their presence breathed enthusiasm among BJP workers on the ground.The Congress, however, relied on its local leaders to campaign for candidates of their choice. In adjoining Adityapur, JMM-supported mayoral candidate Bhuglu Soren sought votes on the development plank. “With JMM in the state and in the municipality, the development of Adityapur will be phenomenal,” Bhuglu said.Union ministers Giriraj Singh and Sanjay Seth held rallies in Jugsalai and Mango on Friday
