Kishtwar: District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operations, J&K, on Tuesday launched a three-day Phase-I training programme for census functionaries for Census 2027 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
Officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, including Deputy Director Manmeet Singh, conducted the training along with designated master trainers and resource persons.
The first phase focuses on the House Listing and Housing Census, scheduled from April to September 2026, during which enumerators will visit households to collect data on housing conditions and socio-economic indicators. The second phase, Population Enumeration, will be conducted between February and March 2027.
The training programme will be held on March 24, March 25 and April 2.
Addressing participants, the Deputy Commissioner termed the census a key national exercise and stressed the need for accuracy and complete coverage, especially in view of Kishtwar’s large and sparsely populated terrain. He asked enumerators to ensure that all prescribed parameters are recorded accurately.
Officers also briefed participants on operational aspects and the role of field staff. The session concluded with an interaction to address queries.
Senior district officers and census staff attended the programme.
