Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review arrangements for the Tribal Folk Festival scheduled at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) on March 28, 2026.
The meeting discussed various measures to ensure smooth conduct of the festival, which aims to showcase the tribal culture, heritage and traditions of the region.
It was informed that students who excelled in the Talent Hunt Competition under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative will participate and present cultural performances.
The Deputy Commissioner directed departments to make arrangements for tribal art and craft stalls, traditional food stalls and sales counters for tribal products through Self Help Groups (SHGs). He stressed promoting local artisans and providing them a platform to showcase indigenous products.
Discussions were also held on organizing traditional tribal games, exhibitions on tribal welfare schemes and displays depicting tribal heritage. It was decided to encourage public participation to make the festival vibrant and inclusive.
The DC further directed the organization of photography and painting exhibitions portraying tribal culture and lifestyle. Skits based on tribal traditions and social themes will also be presented.
He stressed that all departments must work in coordination and ensure timely completion of arrangements.
Among others, District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem, Associate Professor BGSBU Sunil Gupta, Chief Education Officer Mohd Hafeez, District Culture Officer Alamdaar Adam and other officials attended the meeting.
