Samba: A seven-day training programme on scientific beekeeping, organised by the District Agriculture Office Samba under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission, concluded at the Chief Agriculture Office complex here on Tuesday.
The programme, which began on March 18, witnessed participation from beekeepers, farmers, unemployed youth, stakeholders and members of Self-Help Groups.
Chief Agriculture Officer Samba, Dr Rakesh Khajuria, addressed the concluding session and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained. He said the training focused on modern techniques in apiculture, government schemes for beekeepers and financial assistance available to farmers. He added that special projects are being implemented under HADP and JKCIP to strengthen the sector.
Officials informed that the department provides 80 percent subsidy on bee colonies under HADP and 50 percent under JKCIP.
An interactive feedback session was also held, with participants appreciating the training. Incharge Apiculture Section Samba, Ashu Jamwal, delivered a session on production and collection of quality bee products.
Certificates were distributed among the trainees who completed the course. District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Samba, Sanjay Badyal, presented the vote of thanks.
