Ahmedabad: After a Thursday where the heat hit a maximum of 37.7°C, nearly four degrees above the seasonal average, the city is bracing for a Friday that promises to be just as hot. According to the latest forecast by the India meteorological department (IMD), residents should prepare for a maximum of 38°C.The minimum temperature offers little relief at a balmy 22°C. Thursday’s minimum temperature at 37.7°C was five degrees higher than what is typically expected for this time of year, turning usually cool evenings into lukewarm memories.According to the forecast for Gujarat, the maximum temperature will fall and then rise by 2-3 degrees over two days each. For the next seven days, there will be no large change in the minimum temperature, the forecast added. While Ahmedabad bakes, the coastline is set to simmer. The IMD warns of hot and humid weather descending upon Gujarat’s coastal belts this Friday. On Thursday, Bhavnagar claimed the title of the state’s hotspot at 38°C, while Naliya recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15.8°C on Thursday.
