Chatra: Acting on a tip off, a joint team of the excise department and Vashisht Nagar Jori police busted a spurious liquor manufacturing unit in Postia village in Chatra district on Tuesday. Three people were arrested in the raid. Two others however managed to flee.The team raided the house of Anil Yadav in Barwa Tola in Postia, where spurious liquor was allegedly being manufactured by mixing spirit with caramel and essence.The team seized 1,318 bottles (around 577.8 litres) of packaged spurious liquor, caps of popular whisky brands, 35 litres of spirit, 20 litres of coloured liquor and a car.Excise superintendent Prem Prakash Oraon said a case will be under relevant sections of the Jharkhand Excise Act. “A special drive against illegal manufacture, storage and sale of liquor is being carried out in view of upcoming festivals,” he informed.
