Mangaluru: Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath criticised the Congress govt, alleging a severe shortage of medicines in the state’s govt hospitals.Accusing the govt of creating an artificial shortage, Kamath said the Congress administration is “playing with the lives of poor patients,” showing no concern for the underprivileged.“Many people in our district are calling to report issues, yet the health department, which should respond, remains indifferent, showcasing extreme irresponsibility. Despite the fact that our district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao is also the health minister, the people of the district are deprived of health benefits, which is our misfortune,” he added. He said people would give a “fitting response” to such a “disease-stricken govt” in the coming days.Kamath said the central govt’s Jan Aushadhi Kendra, “beneficial to the common people,” was closed for political reasons. “The CT scan and MRI scan services are in disarray, and ambulance services are problematic. Even though the entire health department is in the ICU, the Congress govt is celebrating 1,000 days in office. Meanwhile, doctors and other staff from all cadres are all set to protest on the streets in the state, demanding fulfilment of various demands,” he said.He also alleged vested interests and corruption in the supply of medicines to govt hospitals, leading to a lack of trust in the Congress govt.
