Mangaluru: SI Nasir Hussain, 58, attached to Kundapura Rural police station, collapsed and died while taking part in the 5km ‘Karnataka Police Run’ in Udupi Sunday morning.The event, organised by the Udupi district police under the theme ‘Our Police, Our Pride’, aimed to promote physical fitness, a drug-free Karnataka, and cyber awareness. Hussain hailed from Chikkamagalur district and had served in various police stations in Udupi district.Police said he collapsed near the taluk panchayat office after the run began from Mahatma Gandhi district stadium. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. It is suspected that he suffered a cardiac arrest.He is survived by his wife and two children. His body was kept at the ground near Kandlur police station for the public to pay their last respects.
