GURGAON: Consumers with long-pending electricity dues could see tougher recovery action as the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has directed its officials to personally monitor defaulting accounts and complete recovery proceedings within fixed timelines.The move comes as the power utility conducted a high-level review of outstanding dues owed by government and private-sector consumers, along with compliance with Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) directions on pole-mounted meters.DHBVN managing director Vikram Singh directed officials not to allow recovery cases to remain pending without a clear reason or action plan. He asked them to identify the reasons behind each outstanding case, fix responsibility for prolonged delays and regularly review the progress of recovery.The directions are significant for the utility’s revenue management as DHBVN covers Gurgaon and several other districts in southern Haryana.Officials were told that recovery efforts should not remain confined to paperwork and must result in actual collection of outstanding amounts.A review meeting chaired by director (projects) VK Aggarwal and director (operations) Mukesh Chouhan was attended virtually by chief engineers, superintending engineers, executive engineers and other senior officials from the commercial and operations wings.The meeting examined pending defaulting amounts involving government and private entities and the reasons for the accumulation of dues.Officials were asked to prepare time-bound action plans for individual cases, with particular focus on cases that have remained unresolved for a long period.The management also reviewed compliance with HERC’s directions concerning pole-mounted meters.Officials were asked to provide details of the current status, pending work and action already taken, and ensure compliance within the prescribed timelines.Singh directed field-level officials to personally monitor pending cases and report progress to senior officers within the stipulated timelines.DHBVN spokesperson Sanjay Chugh said revenue recovery, accountability and time-bound action had been made priorities under the MD’s directions, with regular reviews being conducted to ensure effective action in each pending case.
