Sunday, February 22

Ahmedabad: Ahead of SSC and HSC board exams set to begin from Feb 26, special arrangements are being made to ensure that students with disabilities receive the necessary support to appear for their papers smoothly. One of the key requirements for such students is the allocation of a ‘writer’ (scribe) to assist them during the exam.To streamline this process and avoid last-minute inconvenience, Ahmedabad City district education officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhary issued an important directive. As per the circular, the process of allocating writers for disabled students began on Feb 17. Notably, the DEO’s office will remain open on Sunday, Feb 22 despite it being a public holiday, to complete the pending writer allocation work. All principals of secondary and higher secondary schools in Ahmedabad city have been informed that the office will function from 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday specifically for this purpose. Students or parents who have not yet completed the formalities for obtaining a writer can visit the office during these hours.Although govt offices typically remain closed on Sundays, the decision was taken to ensure that no student with disability is deprived of assistance and to prevent any last-minute rush. Education inspectors and assistant education inspectors were also instructed to supervise the process closely.
