Mangaluru: Police have traced the car of a gold trader that was stolen by seven suspects after they allegedly robbed him of 180g of gold ornaments at Baikampady Junction within the Panambur police station limits.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said the vehicle was found abandoned within the Bantwal limits. The accused had thoroughly searched the car, even tearing the seat covers in an apparent attempt to look for valuables.Police teams have launched a search to trace the accused, and are working on the clues gathered during the investigation, the commissioner said, adding that further investigation is in progress.The robbery took place in the early hours of Monday, when seven unidentified persons allegedly intercepted the gold trader’s car at Baikampady Junction. After robbing the trader of around 180g of gold ornaments, the gang fled with the victims’ vehicle.
