Pune: A five-year-old boy was found dead on a farm in Kejal village of Bhor taluka on Saturday morning. Police and forest officials who visited the spot suspect that the child was attacked by an animal.The deceased was identified as Krushna Kiran Sonawane.

According to Rajgad police, initial suspicion pointed to a possible leopard attack. However, after examining the area, forest officials concluded that the injuries were not caused by a wild animal.The boy’s parents, who from Jalgaon, are employed as farm workers. According to the police, the minor boy had accompanied his mother to a sugar cane field. While she was working, the boy told her he needed to answer nature’s call and his mother told him to go nearby on the farm. “When he did not return, his mother began searching for him and alerted others. About an hour later, the boy was found unconscious some distance away from the field and was later declared dead,” an officer from Rajgad police said.
