Kolkata: South Point School celebrated Grandparents’ Day on March 6. The programme was organised for the grandparents of the children of nursery I. The school courtyard wore a festive look with colourful balloons and photographs of the nursery I children with their grandparents displayed all around. The stage looked resplendent with cutouts and props designed by the teachers of the nursery department. Around 115 children participated in this event, adeptly trained by their skilled teachers and supported by the music department. The programme began with the welcome song rendered by the nursery I choir. Then began the musical titled ‘Thakumar Jhuli’. The audience was mesmerised as they witnessed little children in enticing costumes and colourful props perform with supreme confidence. The little stars transported the audience to the world of sea and land creatures. The ‘magic in the air’ was palpable as the little performers danced to foot-tapping music. The stage lit up with neon city lights as the tiny tots presented an underwater neon city fashion show. The children also portrayed modern-day grandparents as dynamic, tech-savvy companions, moving beyond the traditional “rocking chair” image. The grand finale had all the performers casting a spell on the awestruck audience to the music of La Bamba. There were interactive sessions with the audience too. After every show, the grandparents and their grandchildren were requested to enjoy the refreshments and games at the fun fiesta organised for them.
