Prayagraj: As many as 39 FIRs have been lodged at Civil Lines police station in Prayagraj within three days of the Allahabad high court directing the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh to register cases against 105 advocates who had allegedly enrolled using fake or fraudulent law and academic degrees.The latest FIR was registered on Friday against Amar Singh, a resident of Chail in Kaushambi, under Sections 318(4), 338, 336(2) and 340(2) of the BNS on a complaint by the secretary of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh.SHO (Civil Lines) Ramashrya Yadav told TOI that Singh, who enrolled in 1989 with roll number 8046, was found to have a fake LLB degree during verification. He said the degree was sent to Allahabad University authorities, who found it fake.The SHO said 39 FIRs against fake degree holders had already been registered and that cases would be filed against all 105 individuals for allegedly possessing forged credentials, including LLB, graduation and high school certificates.Police said several fraudulent or tampered degrees surfaced in the names of reputed institutions, including Allahabad University, during verification, prompting the authorities to take necessary action.Officials of the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh said that, in compliance with the HC order, 105 advocates were identified whose law degrees were found to be fake during verification under the Certificate and Place of Practice Verification Rules, 2015, of the Bar Council of India.Yadav said the process of filing FIRs began on Saturday and a separate FIR would be registered in each case. The bar council provided police with the list of 105 cases in which lawyers were registered on the basis of fake degrees. Each case will be investigated separately, and legal action will be taken based on facts emerging during the investigation, as per the rules.
