Prayagraj: Around 2,000 women associated with over 200 Self Help Group (SHGs) in all 23 blocks of the Prayagraj district have been assigned to make more than 5 lakh tricolours under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 9-17 across the Sangam city.For that, a special training session to make tricolour flags was held in the district wherein women were imparted training in separate batches. Over 5 lakh tricolours will be stitched in khadi (cotton) cloths.Shama Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Livelihood Mission- Prayagraj), says that Har Ghar tiranga campaign is providing employment opportunities to women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs).The district has set a target of producing 5 lakh tirangas. The flags will be manufactured by the selected groups, with a payment of Rs 20 made for the production of each flag.While the initiative ensures the availability of tricolour for government departments and local events, it also provides a significant livelihood opportunity for rural women.Saroj Maurya, a member of an SHG in Phulpur, mentions that the task has been assigned to more than half a dozen women in the group who own sewing machines. All the women have been instructed to complete the production work by August 12. The flags will be distributed to various departments the following day, August 13.The campaign is not limited merely to hoisting the national flag , it’s a mass movement for nation-building driven by public participation, women’s empowerment, and cleanliness.Pointedly, the Har Ghar Triranga campaign was kicked off in city at CSA park on Sunday and these tricolour will be flagged at every house of the city from August 9-17.Meanwhile, district authorities are also encouraging people of city to flag the Indian tricolour at each house under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
