Shimla: Sudhir Sharma, BJP MLA from Dharamshala, appeared before the state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau in Shimla on Friday for further questioning regarding an FIR registered in Dharamshala in the alleged disproportionate assets case.Sharma served as a minister in the Virbhadra Singh-led Congress govt and switched over to the BJP in March 2024.Sharma was accompanied by BJP MLAs Satpal Singh Satti, Ashish Sharma, Balbir Verma, Trilok Jamwal, Vipin Parmar, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Dr Janak Raj and Rakesh Jamwal to the vigilance bureau headquarters.During the questioning, investigators sought details concerning Sharma’s income, assets, investments, land transactions and expenditure for the relevant period. Focus was particularly placed on the construction and furnishing of his Rakkar residence, including contractors, suppliers, work undertaken, bills, payments and related bank records.According to the vigilance bureau, Sharma did not provide the names and details of contractors involved in constructing the house. Investigators said some responses lacked specific information required for verification and asked him to submit supporting documents.The bureau said the investigation into the case is ongoing. They emphasised that the probe would be conducted impartially without being influenced by any individual’s status.Addressing the mediapersons outside the vigilance headquarters, the BJP legislators accompanying Sharma alleged a political vendetta. They claimed that opposition leaders were being targeted.On Thursday, the special investigation team of the vigilance bureau questioned Dr Janak Raj, the BJP MLA from Bharmaur and former senior medical superintendent of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, in connection with an ongoing enquiry into alleged irregularities in the implementation and processing of claims under the Himcare health scheme.
