Seizure made by the Kurukshetra police

Kurukshetra: The police here on Friday claimed to have arrested three drug peddlers and seized around 6 kg of opium, Rs 21 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery from their possession.The arrests were made by a team from the Kurukshetra University police station, following the directions of SP Chander Mohan, police said.DSP, headquarters, Gurwinder Singh said a police team was patrolling the Ismailabad area on Friday when it received information that Sukhwinder Singh, Harwinder Singh alias Rupinder and Jashanpal Singh, all residents of Talheri village, were involved in selling narcotics.Acting on the information, the police team reached the village and found the three suspects standing outside their houses near a gurdwara. They were allegedly carrying packets containing opium. The police apprehended the three and recovered 6 kg of opium from their possession during a search.A case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Ismailabad police station, and the three were arrested. During a subsequent search of their houses, police recovered around Rs 21 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. Police suspect the jewellery was acquired through drug trafficking proceeds.Sukhwinder and Harwinder are brothers, said the police.DSP Gurwinder Singh said the arrested accused had a criminal past, with cases of assault and under the NDPS Act registered against both Sukhwinder and Harwinder. Their father, Kulwant Singh, was also a history sheeter.The DSP further claimed that the family had accumulated substantial property through alleged drug proceeds.Police said legal proceedings would be initiated to identify and seize assets allegedly acquired through narcotics trafficking. Further investigation is underway.
