Talking to TOI, MP Rajkumar said, “This scheme – My Town, My Dream Project 2030 – implemented by the chief minister allows officials to find out the needs of the district firsthand. People could express their opinion on the current implementation and status of various govt schemes. It is a one-of-a-kind initiative in India, where the govt policy is being framed by seeking public opinions.” He stressed on the need to press the Union govt for the implementation of the metro rail and the airport expansion projects. “There is a need to expand the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital as well. The existing facility could be used only for outpatients, and the inpatient facility could be relocated within the city limits. Also, the city needs a govt-run geriatric care centre. We have discussed these topics at the meeting. The public could also come up with similar opinions.”
