Dharmapuri: A worker was injured after firecrackers stored in a poultry farm shed exploded near Papparapatty in Dharmapuri district on Sunday evening.Police said the incident took place at the poultry farm owned by K Ashok Kumar, of Pudur village near Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district. Preliminary investigation revealed that he also runs a firecracker factory in Maruveetupallam near Papparapatty. He had stored a batch of firecrackers at a shed in his poultry farm. “On Sunday, when one of the workers employed at the firecracker factory went to the shed, the firecrackers exploded suddenly. The worker suffered severe burn injuries and a fractured leg in the incident,” said a police officer from Papparapatty station. He added that the shed was damaged completely.The injured worker, Mathesh, 40, from Kumbakonam, has been admitted to the govt hospital in Dharmapuri, where he is under intensive care. Papparapatty police have registered a case and are investigating.
