Shivamogga: Shivamogga city police have booked two separate cases against organisers and sound system owners for allegedly deploying high-decibel DJ equipment and laser lights during the Eid Milad processions, flouting explicit prohibitory orders issued by the district administration.The FIRs have been lodged at Tunganagar and Kote police stations under Sections 36 and 109 of Karnataka Police Act, which deals with regulation of noise and penalties for disobeying orders, along with Section 292 of BNS for public nuisance.The first case was registered at Tunganagar police station regarding an incident that occurred on Sulebailu Road. According to the police, organisers mounted high-capacity DJ boxes and laser lights on a tractor-trailer during a procession. On-duty police personnel stated that despite clear instructions from the district collector banning DJ sound systems and multiple verbal warnings given on the spot, the organisers refused to turn off the music, creating significant public nuisance. Police personnel on security duty documented the violations on mobile video, subsequently booking the procession’s chief organiser, the DJ operator, and the tractor driver.In the second incident, Kote police registered an FIR against three organisers and a DJ equipment owner for unauthorised sound amplification along the stretch from Sahyadri College Dargah to Mathura Cross Road. Police noted that the procession carried on for over six hours using vehicle-mounted generators and heavy speakers without prior permission. “Apart from exceeding permissible noise thresholds, the complaint also alleges that provocative songs capable of disturbing public harmony were played during the rally,” police said.Police officers confirmed that investigations into both cases are currently under way.
