Mysuru: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mysuru Division, arrested a thief red-handed while he was carrying property of the Railways at Ashokapuram railway station recently.According to Girish Dharmaraj Kalagonda, divisional commercial manager and PRO of Railways, during the intervening night of Aug 26-27, Mujamil Khan, constable with RPF, Mysuru, while on duty at Ashokapuram Yard, noticed a person moving suspiciously with an electric motor. When the person tried to escape, Mujamil alerted Dinesh Kumar, post commander of RPF, Mysuru, and pursued him. An RPF team was immediately sent to the spot, and the person was detained.On investigation, the person was identified as Ashish, 26, a resident of Bihar. He was found carrying an electric motor valued at Rs 4,000, which was later found to have been taken from a condemned railway coach at Ashokapuram station.A case has been registered, and further action is being taken as per the rules.Lost mobile phone foundUnder operation AMANAT, a lost mobile phone was recovered by RPF personnel. After RPF received information about a mobile phone left behind by a passenger in Train No. 16021 (Chennai–Mysuru Express) after its arrival at Mysuru station, Rudramurthy, head constable, RPF, conducted a search in the coach and found the mobile phone.The phone, valued at approximately Rs 10,000, was later handed over to passenger K Jayalakshmi ,44, a resident of Chennai, after due verification.The passenger has appreciated the prompt assistance provided by RPF personnel.
