CHENNAI: A two-year-old boy drowned after he accidentally fell into a four-foot-deep pit near his house near Kavanipakkam, near Kancheepuram, on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Parvesh, son of Karthick, a daily wage worker.According to police, the pit was dug by residents to connect pipelines to their houses. Police said Parvesh was playing outside his house after it rained on Tuesday night.He fell into the pit which was filled with rainwater. His parents did not notice his absence for around 20 minutes, police said. After realising that the child was missing, they searched the neighbourhood and found him in the pit.They rushed him to Chengalpattu Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police registered a case and handed over the body to the family on Wednesday after autopsy.
