BENGALURU: Railway Police have arrested a 28-year-old Chennai-based mason for allegedly assaulting a woman police constable with an iron rod at KSR Railway Station on Wednesday, officials said.The accused, identified as Gajendra, allegedly attacked constable Shilpa at the railway police check post inside the station, police said.According to police, Gajendra had approached the check post to lodge a complaint after allegedly losing his mobile phone after reaching the railway station.Shilpa, who was present at the post, told him to return later as she was alone at the time, police said.Police alleged that Gajendra became agitated by her response, picked up an iron rod and attacked the constable.The railway police subsequently detained Gajendra and arrested him in connection with the assault.Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and further action will follow accordingly.
