Lucknow: Behind every medal and award lies a story of hard work, sacrifice and determination, and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) is all set to honour these achievers of 2026 at its 11th convocation on Aug 29.Prabha Chandra, who will receive the RD Sonkar Award, said the award was the result of years of hard work, discipline and personal sacrifices. The award recognises exceptional academic performance among SC/ST students of School of Ambedkar Studies who secure the highest marks in social sciences, history or political science.Prabha, an MA history student and daughter of farmer Nirmal Chandra and homemaker Renu Chandra, said, “I did not use to visit home during festivals and also avoided going out with friends. I knew my parents were making sacrifices for my education, so I wanted my hard work to be meaningful.”Shubham Yadav, son of govt employee Dharmnath Yadav and homemaker Sarita Yadav, has won a gold medal in BTech computer engineering. “I believe regular study and understanding concepts instead of simply memorising them helped me perform well. My success mantra is consistency, practice and never leaving doubts unresolved,” said Shubham.Anand Kumar, son of Shiksha Mitra Sujeet Kumar and homemaker Sushma Devi, has secured a gold medal in BTech computer science and engineering. He is currently pursuing a PhD in information technology at IIIT Allahabad and wants to build a career in academics.“My aim has always been to continue learning and contribute to education and research. I focused on maintaining discipline in my studies, understanding concepts deeply and working consistently towards my goals,” said Anand.Jigyasa, daughter of private-sector employee Niranjan Kumar and homemaker Meera Devi, won a gold medal in MSc Food Science and Technology. “My success mantra is to keep learning from every opportunity and stay committed to quality work. Practical exposure, along with academic knowledge, has helped me understand the food industry better,” Jigyasa said.
