With the highest number of awardees, Belagavi emerged as the top district in the state. Chief minister Siddaramaiah presented the awards to the farmers at the recently held International Trade Fair in Bengaluru.A total of 11 farmers received awards for the year 2024-25, 1 woman farmer for the year 2022-23, and 2 women farmers for the year 2023-24.Siddaram Kallappa Nadatti of Kabbur, Suganda Appayya Gudimani of Jodakurali, Mayavva Pujeri, Anandrao Belagali of Belagali, Sadashiva Bhatmare of Kerur, Jayashree Patil of Jainapur, Sangavva Tallur of Naganur, Laxmi Humbi of Avaradi, Siddappa Ullegaddi of Chikkanandihalli, Basamma Lagamannavara of Kotabagi, and Suresh Mageri of Kadatana Bagewadi were conferred the award for the year 2024-25.Aarti Patil of Chandaragi in Ramdurg taluk received the 2022-23 award. Gangavva Talawar of Ghastolli in Khanapur taluk and Rajshri Mukati of Hiremunavalli in Khanapur taluk received the 2023-24 award.Achievement and selectionThe farmers’ hard work and active participation are the reasons for the significant increase in agricultural production in the state. To identify and encourage such farmers and women farmers, the govt organises competitions in selected crops at the state, district, and taluk levels, and gives 3 agricultural awards for each crop every year to the farmers and women farmers who achieve.To recognise and encourage farmers and women farmers who made significant achievements in agricultural production, a crop competition was held at the state, district, and taluk levels, and 3 awards were given for each crop. In Belagavi district, maize, soya bean, and paddy were the main crops for the competition.Under the agricultural award crop competition, the state-level winners were honoured with a first prize of Rs 50,000, a second prize of Rs 40,000, and a third prize of Rs 35,000, along with certificates and award plaques.HD Kolekar, joint director of agriculture, Belagavi, said that farmers are doing well through different experiments in the district. They are getting high yields. 14 of them were selected for agriculture awards. Belagavi emerged as the top district with the highest agriculture awards. The awardees brought pride to the entire district’s farming community.
