Times News NetworkKanpur: A 35-year-old woman died on Tuesday at Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital after she was allegedly beaten by her husband. Family members alleged that the husband repeatedly struck her on the chest with kicks and punches, leaving her critically injured.Police identified the deceased as Sheeba Khan, a resident of Machhariya in the Naubasta police station area. Sheeba’s mother said her daughter married Dilshad Khalifa of Ghoda Nakkhas in Farrukhabad in 2012. She alleged that about two years after the marriage, the husband and in-laws began demanding cash as dowry and when the demand was not met, Sheeba was beaten with sticks and iron rods. The family said complaints were made to police several times, but each time the matter was hushed up after the intervention of relatives.According to the family, for the past two months Dilshad lived at his in-laws’ house in Machhariya. About one week ago, he took Sheeba to Farrukhabad, where he and his family members allegedly beat her brutally. The family alleged that when her condition worsened, the accused admitted her to LLR hospital and informed her parents before fleeing. Inspector Bahadur Singh said that the body was sent for postmortem and that further legal action would be taken in accordance with the evidence and the complaint filed by the family.
