Akola/Amravati: Vidarbha continued to sizzle on Saturday as Akola and Amravati recorded 45.6°C — the highest temperature across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh — according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).Wardha followed Akola and Amravati with mercury soaring to 45.5°C with Nagpur, Bramhapuri and Chandrapur recording over 44°C.RK Kaushal, head of the IMD office in Akola, said, “Temperatures are expected to rise further over the next few days, with heatwave conditions likely to persist,” attributing the trend to prevailing dry weather patterns and strong solar radiation.The local administration has issued advisories urging citizens to limit outdoor activities during the afternoon, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses. Health authorities have also been put on alert in view of the rising risk of heatstroke and dehydration cases.
