Vadodara: Anandalaya School, Anand, emerged triumphant in both the junior and senior categories of the 36th MGM Inter-School Science Quiz, held at C C Mehta Auditorium of Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) on Friday.Organised by Mar Gregorios Memorial (MGM) School, New Sama, the competition for the Mar Gregorios Rolling Trophy saw participation from 27 schools across Vadodara and neighbouring towns, including Anand and Halol. The quiz featured 25 teams in the junior category for Classes VI to VIII and 24 teams in the senior category for Classes IX to XII.In the junior category, Vyom Sharma and Nisheet Panchal of Anandalaya School secured the first place, while Biyas Mandal and Arihant Sinha of Baselios School, Vadodara, finished as runners-up.Anandalaya School continued its winning streak in the senior category, with Dhyan Trivedi and Smaran Suthar claiming the top honours. Sashreek and Sahil Sriram of Delhi Public School, Kalali, secured the runners-up position.The quiz was conducted by quizmaster Dr Raktim Mukerjee. Dr Ranjitsinh Devkar, associate professor in the department of zoology at MSU, attended the event as the chief guest.MGM School principal Fr Joji George said the science quiz was among the oldest competitions of its kind in Vadodara. He added that its primary objective was to spark students’ interest in science and nurture a scientific temperament among them.
