Kanpur: Police arrested Surjeet Yadav alias Nanhanku, an absconding murder accuse in an encounter near village Goojarpura Pamaran on Badaun road on early Thursday morning. A constable was also injured.Police said that acting on a tip-off , SHO Raksha Singh, along with police force, cordoned off the area. Seeing the police, Surjeet opened fire. Constable Waseem fell down while trying to dodge the bullets and got injured. In retaliatory action, Surjeet was shot at. They both were admitted to Rajepur CHC. Additional superintendent of police Arun Kumar Singh said that Surjeet was absconding after the murder of Omveer Rathour, a bicycle mechanic. Police have seized a country-made pistol, two empty cartridge shells and three live cartridges from Surjeet. Police said that the then SHO Monu Shakya and investigating sub-inspector Ravi Solanki have been suspended for negligence in solving the case. tnn
