Kanpur: Abhinav Shukla was unanimously elected vice-chairman of the working committee of corporators of the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) at a meeting held on Wednesday.The election was conducted in the presence of Mayor Pramila Pandey.The working committee also approved a proposal to construct a Kriya Ghar in every ward of the city. It was further decided that the existing Kriya Ghar would be renovated.One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was door-to-door garbage collection.Mayor Pramila Pandey expressed strong disapproval over the decision to float tenders for sanitation services without informing the committee. Calling it an incorrect practice, she asked the officials to cancel all tenders that had been floated without being placed before the committee.The meeting was adjourned till Thursday after officials failed to produce new tenders, the budget sheet and the comment sheet related to the issue of door-to-door garbage collection. The mayor said a final decision would be taken once all relevant documents were presented before the committee.
