Nagpur: An 8-year-old boy studying in Class 3 died after he collapsed while running with friends during the afternoon recess at his school under Jaripatka police station limits on Wednesday.The deceased has been identified as Fanit Katre, a resident of Samata Nagar. As per police and school sources, Fanit’s mother dropped him at school in the morning as usual. Around 2 p.m., during the lunch break, Fanit came out of the classroom along with his classmates and began running in the veranda. He had hardly covered a short distance when he fell down.School staff rushed the boy to Mayo Hospital, where doctors examined him and declared him brought dead. The incident triggered shock and panic among students, teachers and parents present at the school. Several parents alleged negligence by the school management, claiming lack of proper supervision during recess hours.School authorities maintained that no one pushed or hit the child. They stated that CCTV footage from the premises clearly shows Fanit collapsing while running. Police visited the spot and reviewed the footage.Jaripatka police registered a case of accidental death and initiated an investigation. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the post-mortem report is received. Police officers said preliminary inquiries suggest the boy collapsed suddenly.
