Rewari: Six people suffered burn injuries, two of them critically, after an LPG cylinder allegedly exploded during a refilling operation inside a rented premises in Dharuhera town of Haryana’s Rewari district on Wednesday. The powerful blast ripped through a room, shattered a wall and hurled the cylinder into an adjoining grocery shop, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Police have launched an investigation and said further legal action will be taken after recording the statements of the critically injured victims.According to preliminary police findings, the incident took place in Om Nagar locality of Dharuhera. The premises had been rented by Monu, a native of Uttar Pradesh, who was reportedly running a grocery store from the front portion of the building. Investigators said that a room at the rear of the property was allegedly being used to refill smaller LPG cylinders. The blast was so intense that the cylinder tore through the wall separating the room from the shop and landed near the shop counter. The force of the explosion spread debris across the premises and engulfed people present inside the room and near the counter, causing severe burn injuries.The six injured have been identified as Abhay, Umar, Vinay, Chandan, Pintu and Manu. Doctors at the trauma centre provided initial treatment before referring Abhay and Chandan to Pt. BD Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak, after assessing their condition as critical. The remaining four victims are undergoing treatment and are said to be in stable condition.Following information about the blast, teams from Dharuhera Sector-6 Police Station and the fire department rushed to the spot. The area was secured, and officials began examining the damaged premises to ascertain the sequence of events leading to the explosion. Police are also investigating whether LPG refilling was being carried out without the mandatory permissions and whether prescribed safety protocols were being violated. The exact cause of the explosion has not yet been established.Dharuhera Sector-6 Station House Officer (SHO) Sachin Kundu said six people were injured in the incident. “Four of them are stable, while two remain in serious condition. The two critically injured victims are not yet fit to record their statements. Further legal action will be initiated only after their statements are recorded.
